Safe food manufacturing operations provide the vital in the supply chain link between raw materials and the consumer, and are integral to the safety, quality and availability of the agrifood supply chain. Food Manufacture is the largest sector in UK Manufacturing, accounting for around 18% turnover and £26bn Gross Value Added overall. (FDF Dec 2013)

It is widely recognised in industry, that there is a shortage of highly skilled managers and technical specialists. To maintain and increase their competitiveness, companies must be equipped to be innovative whilst tackling the challenges of providing a safe, secure manufacturing supply chain, food security, and efficient resource management.

The AgriFood ATP offers specialist courses in product development and food science from analysis of food manufacturing systems to sensory science and brewing science and dairy business management. Our partners' expertise also includes post-harvest technologies and food microbiology – courses in these areas are available from 2014 onwards.
