Animals

Scientific advances in animal health, welfare, production science and nutrition are increasingly important for improving livestock management, as we all come to terms with feeding an ever increasing population, both in developed and developing countries.

Global demand for livestock products is expected to double over the first half of the 21st century due to increasing populations and affluence, leading to a rising demand for animal based products. Animal science in its broadest terms is needed to manage these increasing demands and expectations.

The AgriFood ATP offers specialist technical courses in animal science and production, examining genetics and physiology and animal production systems. We are utilising our partners' expertise, which lies mainly in dairy and beef cattle production, as well as poultry health and production. In 2016 we have developed new modules in poultry nutrition and business management, pig health, welfare and production and also aquaculture systems, management, production and environment.
